Metafit - Who can do it?

New class starts 17th March 6.40am - 7.20am

Who can do Metafit?

This is 40 mins rather than the lunchtime 30 mins, this is to give us time for a longer warm up to make sure our bodies are ready as some of us won't have been out of bed very long! 'Could I do it?' is a different question to 'is it for me?'.

The first time I ever did it, long before I was an instructor, I swore I'd never do it again, yet two years later I was coaching it. You can be easily put off Metafit...'it's brutal'.....'you've got to be really fit to do it'.......'everyone else will be able to do it better'......'I won't be able to keep going'....all things I hear about it but none of that is what's important.

The ethos of Metafit is that it is never easy, no matter how fit you are, the aim is to work as hard as you can and that looks different for everybody. Justin, creator of Metafit was a Marine commando, as fit as you can get. Yet what he expects of his coaches is that you make it as accessible as possible, that exercises are modified so everyone can do them well. It's about getting the best range of movement, knowing you're giving your all, even if that means you then have to stop. Those of you that know me, know I don't resemble a marine commando in the slightest

I'm a woman in my mid fifties who can't do some harder versions of some exercises and you know what.....it doesn't matter. I do what I can, if I know one of the class can demonstrate something I can't then I ask them to. That doesn't mean I'm rubbish at Metafit, it means I can concentrate on good form that works for me. It's exactly the same for you.

Metafit has a lot of impact, almost all of it can be taken out if jumping around isn't for you. All exercises can be varied and I'd much rather see people doing something well & getting the most out of it, than killing themselves with poor form and exhaustion. So if you don't fancy it because it's too early, I absolutely get it! If you don't fancy it because high intensity interval training isn't for you, I get that too. But, if you don't fancy it just because you don't think you can do it, or think you might be embarrassed because you can't do what someone else can, then I'd urge you to give it a try.

I am there to help you get the most out of it not to force you into something that isn't right for you. I fully understand why people have no interest in doing it, this post is for those of you who are interested but worried that you're not good enough.....because you are.
